Problems, Problems, Problems

Q. Do you know why mathematics books like Functions, Algebra and Calculus are sad?
A. Because they are full of problems.

Most math books had the answers in the back. The trick was to figure out how to get the answer using the proper equations.
Remember the dilemma of figuring out what part of an equation did you do first?

  • the formula as you read from left to right
  • the order of calculating the addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
  • what was inside the parentheses ()
  • figuring out product of the exponential numbers
    ad infinitum…

Q. Who participated in a Pan American Games related event without being at the Pan-Am Games?
A. Find out the answer in next month’s newsletter.

Last month’s answer: In the 1940s, the trio were Percy Honey and Ron Love and Principal Ellis Darling were known as Honey, Love and Darling. In their day, teachers addressed the students by their surname, creating embarrassment.
